Duggan has Staffers Patrolling Facebook for Negative Posts About Him
It would seem that the mayor's staffers, including his official spokesman John Roach, are going around on Facebook looking for negative posts about Duggan to "debunk," especially on the Coalition for Property Tax Justice page, which is dedicated to calling him out for not repaying residents affected by the $600M overtaxation:
Is this what we pay them to do, with our tax dollars? Is the mayor's ego really that fragile? Is he really that petty? This is his Trumpian side coming out again...he needs to manipulate the media narrative about his failings.
I double-checked, and sure enough it was that John Roach:
As it turns out Mr. Roach used to be the spokesman for the Detroit Police, until he was asked to resign in 2010 by Mayor Bing after a "combination of things" were met with "disapproval."
In fact before that he worked in spokesman roles at Wayne County government since at least 1994...which makes him another of Duggan's old buddies from the McNamara days, and explains why Roach would be brought back despite whatever previous issues led to his being ousted. Duggan loves doing that; when someone owes him like that he can control them completely, and better yet they are totally expendable...so he is surrounded by crooks and hacks that can take the fall for him at a moment's notice.
A few weeks later I noticed someone else sticking up for Duggan on the same page, and posting the same article...
Not once, but twice:
Turns out she is the mayor's Director of Communications, and her Facebook profile is loaded with pics from the recent Mackinac Policy Conference. Here is her LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/vickie-thomas-47aba5a3/
Ms. Thomas was also trying to share that exact same article that Spokesman John Roach used a few weeks prior, to try and claim Duggan cut taxes citywide in 2014 by 20%....
...Except Duggan did not cut taxes citywide by 20%. The article claims that they were going to be reduced from *between* 5% to 20%....and I'm not sure there is tangible proof that that even happened. Especially since the Detroit News reported six years later in January 2020 that the city had still been overassessing residents, by at least $600M. In any case, even if Duggan is such a nice guy that he reduced the taxes, why is he still so adamantly obstructing any effort to repay the people who were in fact overtaxed?
This is a literal propaganda machine right in front of our faces...I wonder if Duggan has Russian hackers on the city payroll too?
